I just wanted to thank you for supplying me with a stable mirror for my horse "Quino" and the advice and info you gave me when I called ( .. and the conversation about hunting!!)

I have to admit I was fairly worried about putting the mirror up as Quino can be quite nasty towards other horses but as he is confined to box rest for the next month with a fractured pedal bone I wanted to see if I could keep him in on his own whilst still being able to turn my other two out together every day.

He was not amused when he first met his reflection but as you suggested I stayed out of the stable and let him sort it out. He kicked out a few times and kept moving away and back to his reflection, just as he would with another horse but he soon dropped his head, chewed and licked and showed
submission to his reflection. What is fantastic is that he has remained calm in his box and doesn't mind when his "real" friends go out to the field. He doesn't spend all day standing with his mirror but when the others go out he immediately checks that his "friend" is still there and then is happy to eat
his hay and chill out in his stable till his mates come back in.
Interestingly he is eating his head off too which is something he never did before and I was concerned that after a months box rest he would be a hat rack but it is completely the opposite and the only thing that is different is the mirror - so you can draw your own conclusions!

All in all I am totally thrilled and pleased I spent the money  - He is happy and so am I! ( although he loves smearing his food and wet hay all over it - so I now spend more time cleaning the mirror than mucking out!!!!!)
