BACKBOARDS
To get the most from your Amigo stable mirror it should be fitted to a firm, flat wooden surface. If your stable is brick or block built we recommend the use of a backboard, this will prevent any distortion of the image and further reduce the chance of an acrylic mirror being broken.

What Material?
We manufacture stable mirrors in five materials; Acrylic, Polycarbonate, PETG, Aluminium Composite and Stainless Steel, making Amigo the most comprehensive range available.
Acrylic
This is currently the most popular material. It is the best optically and very durable. Fitted correctly will give years of service. Acrylic is a useful, plastic that resembles glass but has properties that make it superior to glass in many ways.
Acrylic is used to make various products, such as shower doors, bath enclosures, windows and skylights. It is chosen over glass for many reasons. It is 17% stronger than glass, making it much more impact resistant and therefore safer. Falling against an acrylic shower door will not likely break it and baseballs that crash through glass windows will, in most cases, bounce off acrylic.
Another great advantage of acrylic is that it is only one-sixth as heavy as glass, virtually identical in weight as Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a versatile, tough plastic used for a variety of applications, from bulletproof windows to compact disks (CDs). The main advantage of polycarbonate over other types of plastic is unbeatable strength combined with light weight. While acrylic is 17% stronger than glass, polycarbonate is nearly unbreakable. Bulletproof windows and enclosures as seen inside banks or at drive-throughs are often made of polycarbonate. Add to this the advantage that polycarbonate is just one-sixth as heavy as glass, and the only drawback is that it is more expensive than either acrylic, glass and other similar materials.

PETG - Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol
PETG is a thermoplastic sheet. Among its advantages, it offers superior impact strength over acrylic and cost effectiveness compared to polycarbonate.

Aluminium composite
Aluminium composite is lightweight and rigid. It is weather and corrosion resistant and offers great flatness with good impact resistance.
These panels are much more lightweight than steel, but offer similar level of strength. It has the ability to offer a faux finish that mimics the look of a glass mirror.

Stainless Steel
Manufactured from high-grade 18/8 stainless steel with a mirror finish.Stainless steel is the universal name for a number of different steels used primarily for their anti-corrosive element. Stainless steel has been developed to resist a number of corrosive environments.
Stainless steel is always made using Chromium. Chromium also improves the corrosion resistance by forming a chromium oxide film on the steel. This very thin layer, when placed under the right conditions, can also be self-repairing.
